In this episode i had a chance to sit down with a brilliant up ad coming young coach Michael Day . 

Michael has had a very interesting path to his current position and knows only too well the ups and downs that come with being a high level sportsman.  

Originally hailing from the island of Inishbofin , Michael progressed through the Playing ranks with Galway all the way to gaining a senior call up until he was hampered by a very challenging injury. 

During his time away from playing he continued to follow his passion for Nutrition and completed a Masters in Human Nutrition in Ulster University Coleraine.

Having gained valuable experience both in a sport performance and clinical setting he is now working alongside Dr. Maeve Gacquin in providing Performance Nutrition services to a number of the Galway inter-county teams including the senior hurling team as well as a number of clubs round the county.

Sami Dowling.

" Sami has been a professional Strength & Conditioning coach with Leinster Rugby Academy for the past 10 years, one of Europe’s top professional rugby Academy’s.

He also served as National Head S&C coach to the Irish rugby U18 and U19 men’s teams, the Irish Women’s Rugby team as well as having assisted with the Men’s Senior Rugby team in their pre-season training for the 2011 rugby World Cup.

In GAA Sami has worked at the highest level, serving as S&C coach with Down and Dublin football teams, winning an All-Ireland with the Dublin Senior team in 2011 and the Dublin U21 and Minor teams in 2012.

At club level, Sami has previously been involved with St.Vincent’s GAA and since 2013 Sami has been involved with Cuala GAA.

As well as having a strong background in S&C for field sports, Sami has coached athletes to a high level in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting including the European and World Championships, serving as the High-Performance coach for Weightlifting Ireland from 2014-2016.

The Humble Coach is back with another great episode . In episode 10 I am joined by Michael Rutherford aka Coach Rut , Founder and former owner of Bootcamp Fitness Kansas & CrossFit Kansas City.  

Coach Rut has been involved in Strength & Conditioning for almost 30 Years and has worked alongside some of the best coaches in the world. 

He has also worked in hospital wellness environments and rehabilitation clinics. Rut holds academic degrees in biology, physical education, and exercise physiology and sports biomechanics. He is a USAW-certified Club Coach and is a CrossFit level-3 trainer. 

Hailing from Kansas City ,Missouri , Coach Rut could also be considered one of the original CrossFit Crew having been the 4th Official CrossFit affiliate in the world . 

He developed the fantastic Max Effort Black Box training system as well as being a regular contributor to the CrossFit Journal, The Performance Menu and  Breaking Muscle.
